By using Ridgeline ID you agree to these terms. If you do not agree, please don't use the service.
1. The service
Ridgeline ID uses a third-party AI model (currently Google Gemini, accessed via the Lovable AI Gateway) to suggest the most likely UK fell, mountain or peak shown in a photo, optionally aided by your device's location. Identifications are best-effort guesses and may be wrong. By submitting a photo you agree it can be transmitted to the AI provider solely to produce a result.
1a. Usage limits
To keep the service available and affordable, AI identification calls are rate-limited per account and across the whole service. If you hit a limit you'll see a message and can try again later. Current caps are visible to you in the app when triggered and may change without notice.
2. Safety disclaimer
Do not rely on Ridgeline ID for navigation or safety in the hills. Always carry a proper map and compass (or equivalent), check the weather, and tell someone your plans. We are not liable for any loss, injury or damage arising from reliance on identifications produced by the service.
3. Your account
You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. You must be at least 13 years old to create an account. We may suspend accounts that abuse the service (e.g. excessive automated requests, attempts to bypass rate limits).
4. Acceptable use
- Don't upload illegal content or photos of identifiable people without consent.
- Don't attempt to disrupt, reverse engineer or overload the service.
- Don't use the service to build a competing dataset.
5. Your content
You retain ownership of photos you submit. You grant us a limited licence to process them solely to provide the identification service and, if you're signed in, to store them in your private history.
6. Availability & changes
The service is provided "as is" with no uptime guarantee. We may change, suspend or discontinue features at any time. We may update these terms; material changes will be flagged in-app.
7. Liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, our liability for any claim arising out of your use of Ridgeline ID is limited to the amount you have paid us in the previous 12 months (which, for the free tier, is zero).
8. Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Disputes are subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts of England and Wales.
